lindig farms

Lindig Farms will not be open as usual for 2010. The main reason is the failure of the operation to ever show a profit. If I continue I will need to significantly increase my insurance premiums and also some infrastructure upgrades will be required. For the last three years I have tried to access grants and outside funding, but have come up totally empty. And as a result it is time to close the farm to visitors as usual.

So what will be available this coming fall? The Horse and Homesteaders Club has contracted the weekend of Sept 18 and 19 for their field days. There will be an admission charge and will include many demonstrations, all day lunch and craft items. The remaining fall days will go something like this: Basically product sales and the freedom to roam around the farm. There will not be hayrides, maze, milking demonstrations, walk in pens, full yard decorations, bone hut, and lunch (although there is the possibility of demonstration food projects). There may be children’s sand box and seed art. There will be a photo display area, baby goats, and calves and other animals here year around. Also there will be the usual products for sale, which include pumpkins, gourds, broom corn, corn shocks, maple syrup, ornamental corn, straw bales and some craft items. Prices for these products will remain the same as in past years, with the exception of admission, and will probably not charge an admission fee.

I would like to thank the many people who volunteered at one time or another during the past six years. Special thanks to Deb Jennen for the countless hours of help every year of operation. And thanks to the Worner family of Wayne Nebraska who were visitors each and every year. The weekday school day visits continued to increase in numbers each year. Many thanks to the Underwood school and Campbell school and communities for the many groups who visited the very first year and every year I operated. Also, to the entire Zimmerman school of Wahpeton N D who attended the past five years and became my favorite group to host------what a great staff.

Thank you to all that visited in the past and for all of the kind words, cards and pictures. Visitors are still welcome, but understand that there will be limited services activities and demonstrations. I will have products for sale here at the farm on the honor system.

Products available for sale. The following products will be for sale at the farm: Fall items include pumpkins, gourds, broom corn, corn shocks, ornamental corn, and straw bales.
